About Trudie

Hi and welcome to my website. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me to see if I am your Celebrant of choice. I am based in sunny Nelson and predominantly cover the Nelson/Tasman region. However, I can travel further to meet your requirements by agreement.

I am a registered Marriage and Civil Union Celebrant and a validated member of the Celebrants Association New Zealand (VCANZ). I hold a diploma in Celebrancy issued by The Celebrants Training College. I am a person who is constantly learning, whether it’s formally or informally. I am highly organised, like detail and stay focussed on the end goal.

I am a genuine, authentic and naturally happy person. You will see that I am sincere in my dealings with people and accept them for who they are – we are all different, unique and have a special place in this world where we are accepted for who we are. I believe we’ve all been given the gift of life so we can fully participate - by learning to let go and jumping in with both feet to celebrate life in its entirety. I’m getting better at this the older I get, with the help of my sense of humour and ability to laugh at myself.

I enjoy working with diverse people and learning about them and understanding what their dreams and goals are. I learn what encourages them and I assist them to stay focused to achieve their dreams. Part of why I like working with people comes from my fascination with other cultures. Each time I have travelled I have tried to participate in different cultural activities, learn local customs and the history of the place. Fond memories include taking cooking lessons in Thailand, participating in cultural dances in South Africa, wandering through the ruins in Athens, and discovering the history of places like Paris, Rome and Budapest.

Those who know me are aware that I am sentimental and that I like the symbolism of the elephant – to me they represent family and loved ones. They epitomise strength, stability and patience as they raise their families together. An elephant is a majestic, loyal and loving animal that lives with dignity as it shares memories of those who have passed. On their journeys to watering holes for survival and gatherings where they show their real happiness.

In summary I think this is a good representation of what I am about - family and friends – love and happiness. However, I also enjoy going for walks, movies, reading a good book and trying new things, as all of this keeps my life in balance – ready to face what comes next.
