Elopement Style:

Sometimes the stress of planning a wedding, finances or worrying about family drama is enough to stop a couple from getting married. For some a wedding ceremony is about romance and you not as individuals but as a couple. If you would like to have a very simple and intimate legal ceremony then an elopement ceremony may be for you. Up to twenty guests.

It can be at a location of your choosing and the type of ceremony that you would like is up to you.

Registry Style:

Has a set cost, standard vows and must occur on a weekday. Public holidays are excluded.

The Court House are no longer available for Registry ceremonies.

You need to provide two witnesses and guests are limited to ten.

You ceremony can be anywhere mutually agreed with the celebrant. You can select your celebrant of choice whilst applying for your licence.

Please apply online at marriages.services.govt.nz for your marriage licence, The celebrant fee is set at $90, to be paid before the ceremony. The celebrant will be automatically advised once you have applied and will contact you.
