Elopement Style:

A small, intimate way to get married. Relaxed, personal, and focused on the two of you.

An elopement ceremony is perfect if you want something calm, meaningful, and free from stress, high costs, or family pressure. It’s a private, romantic option with up to twenty guests.

You choose the location and the style of the ceremony you’d like. I’ll work with you to create something warm, personal, and right for you as a couple.

REGISTRy- STyle:

A simple, heartfelt way to get married — relaxed, warm, and easy to understand.

A registry ceremony is a short, legal‑only ceremony using the standard BDM vows. It must be held on a weekday (excluding public holidays). Even though it is small and straightforward, it can still feel personal and special.

What you need to know

Celebrant fee: $175 (paid before the ceremony) • Marriage licence fee: paid separately to BDM when you apply • Standard BDM vowsWeekdays onlyTwo witnesses requiredUp to 10 guestsCourthouse no longer availableLocation: must be a small, easy‑to‑access place within my approved registry area, as required by BDM

Examples of suitable places: a quiet part of the beach, a small garden, your home, or a local reserve. The location must be safe, easy to stand in, and not too far to travel.

Choosing your celebrant

When you apply for your marriage licence online, you can choose your celebrant. If you select me, BDM will send me your details, and I will contact you with the next steps.

How to apply

Apply for your marriage licence at marriages.services.govt.nz. Once your licence is approved and you have chosen me, I will guide you through everything you need.
